Mumia got a lot of birthdaycards in april; thanks to all of you.
In Philedelphia,Mexico and France were demonstrations at his birthday and benefits at many places. However the prisonindustrie continues, spreading her dirty wings out over europe (even holland)
Let us write more cards to mumia to show him and the state,which keeps him and many others in prison, that we didn’t forget what’s happening in these ugly buidings. It’s also usefull to write to the american consulat,to demand mumiaas freedom. There is a petition going round to demand mumia’s release,please help him by signing the petition.

Mumia Abu Jamal is an african-american reporter and political activist.They called him,the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’,as he reported about racism and police brutality in the USA. So the local authorities didn’t really liked him.
Once having been a victim of police racism, he joined the Black Panter Party.In the 70ts he became a reporter and reported about the state-terror against the radical,black organisation MOVE. When he spook about the brutal violence by the police against MOVE-headquarters,he lost his job and became a taxi driver. In 1981 Mumia got involved in a shooting,which resulted in 1 dead white policeman and Mumia badly injured,but Mumia survived. Mumia Abu-Jamal is a Black writer and journalist, author of six books and hundreds of columns and articles, former member of the Black Panther Party and supporter of Philadelphia’s radical MOVE Organization, who has spent the last 30 years in prison, almost all in solitary confinement on Pennsylvania’s Death Row.

In 1982 Mumia Abu-Jamal was tried, convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. For the next 30 years Mumia was held in isolation on Death Row. He was kept there even though a federal judge ordered his death sentence overturned in 2001. However, after losing numerous appeals of that order, the Philadelphia District Attorney on 7 December 2011 announced he was giving up. De Amerikaanse gevangene Mumia Abu-Jamal wordt niet ter dood gebracht. De openbaar aanklager van de stad Philadelphia maakte december vorig jaar bekend dat hij niet langer de doodstraf verlangt. De nu 58-jarige Abu-Jamal was in zijn jeugd lid van de radicale Black Panther-beweging.Hij werd in 1982 ter dood veroordeeld voor de zgn. moord op een witte politieman in 1981.
